El Santuario
El Santuario de Chimayó is a beloved church visited by thousands of pilgrims every year seeking healing or giving thanks for miracles in their lives. The Good Friday pilgrimage to El Santuario de Chimayó draws thousands of walkers of many faiths from all parts of New Mexico and points beyond. Many come for the healing dirt found in El Posito, the small well off to one side of the main altar. The church was built around 1815 and features art by many of New Mexico’s best santeros, the folk artist who painted the saints on the main and side altars. We hope our designs convey our profound love and reverence for El Santuario de Chimayó.
